Hidden Single / Single Position Method

Choose one of the columns, rows or boxes for this method. It's advisable to use a systematic approach, such as initially selecting rows from top to bottom, then columns from left to right, and finally, boxes from the top-left corner to the bottom-right corner. Feel free to experiment with different orders, but maintain a systematic approach to ensure you do not omit any rows, columns, or boxes.

Apply the method by examining the blank cells in the chosen row, column or box, and attempt to determine where the missing numbers can fit within the same row, column, or box. If a number can only go in one empty cell, then it should be placed there.

Consider the following example below for selection of the second column!

Examine the column to identify the missing numbers and locate the blank spaces. In this case, there are six blank spaces where the numbers 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 8 should be placed. Now, let's determine the possible positions for number 5.

It is not possible for number 5 to go in the middle-left box, as there is already a 5 present (indicated by a light-gray background). Similarly, the bottom-left box is not an option due to the presence of another 5 (indicated by a medium-dark-gray background). Therefore, the only viable placement for the number 5 in column 2 is the top cell (indicated by a dark-gray background).
